The Visiting Nurse Services in Westchester will be holding a ribbon cutting next Wednesday, May 18, for its new service in Putnam, called Visiting Nurse Services in Putnam.

VNSW, a 110-year-old home health agency serving patients throughout Westchester, purchased Putnam’s Certified Home Health Agency from the county after several years of the CHHA operating at a loss. Then-County Executive Bob Bondi proposed exploring the privatization of the CHHA at his March 2009 State of the County address. Health department officials and county legislators initially expressed opposition to selling the CHHA, but ultimately decided selling it to VNSW would save money and improve the services offered.

The ribbon cutting will be held at 3 p.m. on May 18 at the VNSP offices at 979 Route 22 in Brewster. The ceremony will be followed by a reception and refreshments.
