Diverse Voices & Diverse Staffing Report
As a community-based media outlet, we are committed to reporting on stories and producing content that embraces and conveys the true diversity of our coverage area. To that end, Examiner Media strives to maintain a staff and a stable of freelance contributors that accurately reflect the demographics of the community we serve.
Inclusiveness is at the heart of thinking and acting as journalists. The complex issues we face as a society require respect for different viewpoints. Race (ethnicity), class, generation, gender and geography all affect point of view. Reflecting these differences in our reporting leads to better, more nuanced stories and a better-informed community.
We are interested in hearing from different ethnic, civic and business groups in the communities we serve. Please let us know about stories you think we should cover. Email print editor Martin Wilbur at mwilbur@theexaminernews.com and digital editor Robert Schork at rschork@theexaminernews.com with story ideas.
While our staff is diverse in terms of gender and sexual orientation and generation, we are working to enhance the diversity of our staff and have already taken steps with our freelance journalists. We are also equally committed to diverse hiring practices for full-time positions.
Email Publisher Adam Stone at astone@theexaminernews.com with your resume, cover letter and published work samples. While we don’t always have positions open, we’re always seeking additional talent for when the time is right.
