Peekskill Police announced the arrest of a city resident for possession of heroin following a surveillance check in the parking lot of the A&P Shopping Plaza on Welcher Avenue.

On January 24, officers Matt Basso and Fabian Gonzalez were patrolling the parking lot, which police stated is frequently used for drug transactions, at about 7:45 p.m. and observed a male, later identified as Ronald Horne, 54, of Peekskill, acting suspicious in his vehicle.

When officers approached Horne he allegedly tried to conceal heroin inside of a small hand held vacuum cleaner inside the vehicle. Officers later recovered 49 glassine envelopes of heroin from Horne. He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third and seventh degrees and was remanded to Westchester County Jail.
