Nancy’s Picks: This week’s three best bets

1. Sahaja Yoga Meditation at St. John’s Riverside Hospital Pavilion

Most yoga practitioners love to try new classes and meditations. The COVID-19 pandemic has led many to find more balance in their daily lives and focus on mental wellness. St. John’s Riverside Hospital understands and offers ongoing Sahaja Yoga Meditation to the general public every Friday at 3 pm. It is the perfect way to set your intentions for the weekend and it is free. Sahaja yoga is the practice of unique, focused meditation rooted in ancient spiritual understanding and knowledge that allows one to achieve a state of balance in a short period of time. Practicing regularly positively impacts self-awareness, peace, improved health, and stress relief. Free.

2. Skiing at Victor Constant Ski Area, West Point

Enjoy an afternoon to evening ski at Victor Constant Ski Area, the region’s most historic and classic ski area. Named for Capt. S. Victor Constant in 1946 who was the ski coach at the USMA, and designed and supervised the construction of the ski area. For over 80 years military families and the general public have been making memories here. The family-friendly vibe is both vintage and contemporary; there is a chair lift and a cable tow, terrain park, snow-making, cozy, old-fashioned lodge with today’s necessities including WiFi, lessons, rentals, views, and photo-ops. The weekday hours make this a great after-school activity! Monday-Friday 3 pm – 9 pm, Saturday 9 am – 7 pm, Sunday 9 am – 5 pm.
