Carmel Dems Back Bernie Kosberg
The Town of Carmel Democratic Committee officially endorsed Bernie Kosberg in his run for the Putnam County Legislature in District 9. The district, which encompasses parts of the Hamlet of Mahopac, is represented by Republican Legislator Anthony DiCarlo, who is seeking a second term.
“Bernie brings a rare combination of excellence in organizational management, a career of working with children and families, and a positive attitude that will bring fresh ideas to Putnam County,” the committee wrote in a press release.
Kosberg received the backing of the Putnam Democratic Committee last month. The district, like Putnam County, leans Republican.
DiCarlo is being challenged for the Republican line by former district attorney Kevin Wright. Wright received the Conservative line, and Democrats are hoping a DiCarlo win in the Republican primary sets up a three-way election in November with two Republicans on the ballot.
Eight of nine legislative districts are now represented by Republicans, with District 2 Legislator Sam Oliverio the lone Democrat.
