THE GYM of Armonk Launches tG² Yoga

We are part of The Trust Project

THE GYM of Armonk recently launched a serious new yoga program, featuring a comprehensive schedule of six different classes to accommodate all levels of experience. The ultimate compliment to strength, cardio and conditioning work, tG² Yoga – “yoga to the highest power” – at THE GYM will bring an additional element of flexibility and mental focus to members’ fitness routines. Classes take place in a beautifully updated studio; members are invited to bring a guest to celebrate its unveiling on Tuesday, May 21st from 6 to 9 p.m. at THE GYM.

THE GYM will offer more than 30 classes each month; on weekdays, they begin as early as 6:15 a.m. and as late as 7 p.m., and weekend classes begin between 8 a.m. and noon. Participants will now have Manduka Pro mats available for use – adding to comfort, joint protection and stability.

A completely refurbished yoga studio, designed to enhance the yoga experience, includes fresh paint with a new color palette, a new stereo system and storage units, fountains, and benches. New lighting contributes to a softer feel throughout the room, and the seating area will feature a display of art and photography by local artists.

“I wanted to create a space within THE GYM that feels special, like a sanctuary,” said interior designer Mara Solow. “The design is intended to create fresh new energy to support the new direction of the program.”

Class options include:

  • tG2 Essential, the foundation of tG2, focus on form and breathing building core strength, and increasing overall awareness of the way you move and the way you think.
  • tG2 Elevate classes build strength, flexibility, stability and mobility as classic postures learned in tG2 Essential are sequenced into a slow flow.
  • tG2Peak classes challenge, building stamina and focus in a steady flow of standing postures, balances, backbends, twists and inversions.
  • tG2 Restore classes make use of yoga props, such as blocks, straps and blankets to support the body in asanas and allow it to deeply relax.
  • Kripalu Yoga is a practice of patient self-awareness – a combination of Asana (yoga postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises).
  • Budokon is a dynamic approach to yoga influenced by martial arts techniques.
  • THE GYM’s experienced, professional yoga instructors are diverse in skills and focus, and all dedicated to their craft, boasting thousands of hours of training and teaching between them. Renee Diamond of DiamondFit, a nationally respected fitness educator, worked with THE GYM to develop the new tG2 yoga program, and will teach two classes each week.

“The experience of yoga at THE GYM has been completely transformed,” said THE GYM Group Fitness Director Lisa Gagliardi. “Exceptional instructors, a beautiful studio, top of the line equipment and a comprehensive class schedule will fit the needs of everyone, from amateur to the most experienced participants.”
