Local Memorial Day Observances Scheduled for Monday
Mount Kisco
The American Legion Post 136 in Mount Kisco will hold its annual Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 30 at 10 a.m. The parade route will begin at Oakwood Cemetery, travel down Smith Street to Route 117 and end at the War Memorial adjacent to Village Hall and the Mount Kisco Public Library. A service will be held at the memorial. The public is invited to the Legion for refreshments after the conclusion of the service.
New Castle
The Memorial Day ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Victory Corners Monument at the intersection of King Street and Bedford Road. Immediately following the ceremony, the town’s annual Memorial Day parade will step off at 11 a.m., starting on Route 117, proceed down King Street to South Greeley Avenue and conclude at Memorial Circle near the Metro-North train station.
North Castle
The town’s Memorial Day ceremony will take place at American Legion Post 1097 at 35 Bedford Rd. in Armonk next to Town Hall at 11 a.m. The ceremony will be followed by a special community event.
Thornwood
A Memorial Day observance will take place at the monuments located at the Old Thornwood Railroad station at 11 a.m. to honor the memory of those who gave their lived serving our country. Refreshments will be served after the ceremony at Gilbert Rauh American Legion Post 1574, located at 52 Garrigan Ave. in Thornwood. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at the Legion post starting at 11 a.m.
Valhalla
The Valhalla Memorial Day Parade will step off at 9:30 a.m. on Westlake Drive behind the Valhalla Methodist Church and proceeds south on Columbus Avenue. The parade is followed by a ceremony at the Village Green at 10 a.m. Hot dogs, ice cream and other refreshments will be served at American Legion Post 1038 after the ceremony. Everyone is invited.
