Gordon Lightfoot brings his GORDON LIGHTFOOT: 80 YEARS STRONG TOUR to Tarrytown Music Hall on April 8 at 8 p.m. There are just a few handfuls of tickets left for this historic night of music. The singer-songwriter will have to choose from his vast song catalog which includes “If You Could Read My Mind,” “Ribbon of Darkness” and “Beautiful.” Special guest Jack Grace will join Lightfoot.

2. Don Quixote in New Rochelle (4/9)

Don Quixote in New Rochelle

The Ajkun Ballet Theatre company is joined by children from the community and Stars in the Making as soloists in this show suitable for the whole family. Choreography: Chiara Ajkun after Alexander Gorsky; Music: Leon Minkus and additional scores by Anton Simon and Ricardo Drigo and Libretto: Marius Petipa after the novel by Miguel de Cervantes. There is no intermission and tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets are $30.

3. Hike the trail less traveled at Teatown (4/10)

Hike through the Hidden Valley and up to the Overlook Trail at Teatown beginning at 10 a.m. on April 10. Explore varied habitats ranging from the red maple swamp to a hemlock grove to old fields and rocky cliffs. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear, bring water, and snack for the two-hour hike. Space is limited so register in advance. Members: $3 Non-members: $8

    Pelham Art Center’s first annual Artist Club Exhibition will kick off with an opening reception at 6 p.m. The exhibit will include the works of more than 50 artists from around the Hudson Valley region. The public is invited to this free event. The art exhibit will run through May 7.

  • From Mickey Mouse to Star Wars and Beyond: How The Walt Disney Company Conquered the Entertainment Universe (virtual)
    Brian Rose, a film lecturer, traces how Walt Disney grew his company from its beginnings in 1923 to become the most powerful force in worldwide entertainment. The program is a collaboration between Warner Library, Irvington Public Library, Somers Library, Yonkers-Grinton I. Will Public Library, and New Rochelle Public Library. The lecture is being hosted on Zoom. It is free and open to all. Be sure to register.

  • Let’s Make a Play About the Environment (Cross River)
    Let’s Make a Play’s Serena Norr will guide 4–7-year-olds in a creative exploration of the environment. She will use improv-style prompts to encourage creating scenes about the environment and create a mini-play. The event begins at 10 a.m. and runs through 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $15.

  • An Evening with Roger Reeves, Adrian Matejka, and Sean Singer (virtual)
    Join three authors as they read from their latest books and take part in a question-and-answer period. Roger Reeves is the author of Best Barbarian (Norton, 2022). Adrian Matejka is the author of Somebody Else Sold the World (Penguin Books, July 2021) Sean Singer authored Today in the Taxi (Tupelo Press, 2022). A media specialist in the education and not-for-profit sectors, Patrice Athanasidy has written in the Hudson Valley for over 25 years. A Bronx native, she loves exploring all the Hudson Valley has to offer from parks to theaters to historic places. Athanasidy is an adjunct professor of communication at Manhattan College and also an alumna. Now a resident of Westchester County, she is a wife and mom of three grown children and has written columns about living family life on the autistic spectrum.
