We are part of The Trust Project

A Tarrytown woman traveling the wrong way was killed shortly after midnight Saturday after crashing head-on into a car driven by a Yorktown woman on the Taconic State Parkway.

According to State Police, Michelle Cio, 34, was traveling south in the center northbound lane in a 2006 Honda Civic at about 12:20 a.m. when she collided with a 2007 Audi, operated by Alicia Asadoorian, 26, of Yorktown.

Cio, a Eucharistic minister in a Tarrytown church, was pronounced dead at the scene. Asadoorian was transported to Westchester Medical Center, where she was treated for leg injuries.

Investigation by police revealed Asadoorian was in possession of approximately 5.3 grams of marijuana but it’s unclear if that played a factor in the crash. Police said charges could depend on the results of toxicology results.

Police are also trying to determine where Cio entered the Taconic in the wrong direction.
