The Cherry Blossom Festival in White Plains.

The cherry blossoms in Turnure Park may have come and gone early this year, but the White Plains Cherry Blossom Festival was heavily attended anyway, with people enjoying a pleasant afternoon, Sunday May 6. It was a celebration of everything Japanese, from Taiko drumming to a Shamisen Performance, to a Battodo Sword demonstration and Tai Chi. Nippan Daido White Plains organized the event with the City of White Plains. Proceeds will go to the purchase of five new cherry trees that will be planted in the park, as well as to the Japanese Disaster Relief Fund, created in 2011 after the devastating earthquake and tidal wave that struck Japan.
