The 45th Annual Northern Westchester/Putnam St. Patrick’s Day Parade will kick off at 2 p.m. following the Pledge of Allegiance on the corner of Route 6 and Croton Falls Road. The parade route continues along Route 6.

The parade, which was canceled last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, has six divisions, consisting of numerous marching bands, police and fire departments, civil servants, schools and various organizations throughout the state.

The Grand Marshal of the parade is Ed “Eddie” McDowell. The Brewster resident was born in Ireland and served in the United States Army before being honorably discharged in 1964 with the rank of Specialist 4. He worked for the New York Telephone Company for 30 years. After retiring there he worked at Green Chimney’s School in Brewster.

McDowell has also volunteered with a variety of organizations, including the Putnam Humane Society, Guiding Eyes for the Blind, Emerald Association of Putnam County, Friends of Animals, Putnam Land Trust and the Landmarks Preservation Society.
