Lyft Driver Killed after Crashing into Garbage Truck in Somers

A Lyft driver was killed Monday after crashing into a sanitation truck on Route 100 in the Town of Somers.

According to State Police, an investigation revealed Junior Polanco Brito, 36, of North Brunswick, NJ, was heading north in the southbound lanes in a 2020 Honda CRV when his vehicle struck a southbound 2015 Mack truck, operated by John Paolucci, 45, of Harrison.

Polanco Brito, who was working as a Lyft driver, was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical paramedics. A 17-year-old passenger was severely injured and transported to Westchester Medical Center in critical condition.
