Halloween ‘Rescheduled’ in Somers

Somers Supervisor Mary Beth Murphy

No trick: Halloween is canceled this year in Somers. At least an Oct. 31 Halloween.

Town Supervisor Mary Beth Murphy issued the decree in an email blast to residents.

“Due to the continuing power outages, downed wires and downed trees the Town of Somers is rescheduling Halloween,” Murphy declared.

The supervisor also said the town would assess conditions and “look to reschedule this festive occasion at a later date possibly Friday or Saturday.”

“Halloween will not take place tonight October 31, 2011,” Murphy also stated.

Murphy added that although the town knows “children will be disappointed, it is in the interest of their safety and the safety of the community that this decision is made.”
