Ex-Basketball Coach Pleads Guilty to Sex Assaults

We are part of The Trust Project

A former local girls’ basketball coach pled guilty Tuesday to three counts of predatory sexual assault of a child.

Richard Dinizo, 58, of Cortlandt, committed the offenses in his home between March 1, 2008 and July 31, 2010. Two of the victims were seven years old and one victim was 10 at the time the crimes occurred.

With each of the victims, the defendant tricked the young girls into playing a tasting game that involved the girls performing acts of oral sex. Each victim wore a mask covering their eyes that kept them unaware of the defendant’s deviant sexual conduct. According to the Westchester District Attorney’s Office, the defendant recorded the criminal sexual acts.

Dinizo faces a maximum sentence of life in prison on each of the counts when he is sentenced on February 18.
