It all began with the coveted silk dress, a slinky little number that has been hanging in the deep recesses of a closet begging to come out.

YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester’s President and CEO Cindy Rubino knew that if she did not take action now, the dress would never see the light of day, so she pulled it out, hung it where she could see it and then looked around the many assets offered to her at the YMCA and pulled together a team to help her get fit.

On May 20, CEO Cindy set out on a 12-week fitness program with the support and help of YMCA Fitness Director Dan Libertino, Shop Rite Supermarkets Retail Dietician In Jung Cassaday, and Medical technology major students from College of Westchester.

The YMCA 12-week personal fitness program is available to anyone, complete with a state-of-the-art fitness center, racquetball/squash gymnasium, group exercise classes and more.

Cindy’s log term goal is overall better health and fitness. “She decided to Walk the walk, rather than just talk the talk,” said Anne Ring, YMCA’s new Director of Fund Development and Communications. “By making her journey public CEO Cindy is not only providing a good example, but she is showing off the many wonderful fitness programs at the Y.”

As part of the program, Cindy will confer with Cassaday for healthy eating tips and will have her vitals regularly monitored by the College of Westchester medical technology students.

At the end of the 12 weeks, there will be a “V is for Victory” celebration at the YMCA at 250 Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains, which will be open to the public. Attendees will meet CEO Cindy dressed in her favorite silk dress and can talk to the fitness staff to find out more about the 12-week program. Shop Rite’s dietician and the medical students will also be on hand to discuss food and nutrition as it relates to medical and fitness health.
