When Cortlandt residents head to the polls on Nov. 7, they will have the good fortune to re-elect Robert Mayes to the Cortlandt Town Board.

Having served with Robert on the Lakeland Board of Education, I’ve known him to be a fair and open-minded representative who puts much thought and deliberation into every decision he makes. It has been a pleasure to watch him bring his skills to the Town Board, and that is why I’m strongly endorsing him for re-election.

Since his unanimous appointment to the board in 2022 and subsequent election, Robert has continued to deliver for the people of Cortlandt and shown a true commitment to advocating on behalf of the entire community. He listens to constituents and examines issues from multiple angles. He is dedicated to keeping our town safe, affordable and family-friendly, while maintaining taxes that are lower than many surrounding communities.

He has also proven to be a skilled collaborator, working with different municipal organizations to help address pressing issues such as long-term traffic improvements and much-needed upgrades to our parks and fields. And as a fifth-generation Cortlandt resident, it is clear that Robert is fully dedicated to this town.

I would also like to show my support for Dr. Richard Becker, who is running for re-election to a second term as Cortlandt supervisor, and Joyce White, who is running for her first term on the board.

Throughout his service on behalf of this community, Dr. Becker has consistently shown that he is more than qualified to not only lead Cortlandt, but help it continue to prosper through improved infrastructure, smart growth, low taxes and increased public safety.

I have had the pleasure of recently spending time with Ms. White and find her to be incredibly focused and solutions oriented. Her business experience makes her highly qualified to help lead the town as it grows, while her healthcare background gives her a level of empathy that is important to have in our local representatives.

It has been impressive to see what the Town of Cortlandt has been able to accomplish with its current leadership and I look forward to more successes under their guidance. That is why I will be voting for the team that has proven it can deliver for Cortlandt – Mayes, Becker and White.
