White Plains Police Talk Jumper Down from Longview Garage

We are part of The Trust Project

At approximately 7:30 a.m. Friday morning White Plains police responded to 911 calls that a man was sitting on the ledge of the 9th floor of the Longview Parking Garage in White Plains. Emergency Services Officers Robert Demodna and Edward Gordon, Sgt. Farrelly and Police Officer Riley responded.

The 27-year-old male was reportedly despondent about affairs in his private life, Public Safety Commissioner David Chong told The White Plains Examiner. The officers spent 30 minutes talking with the man and were able to convince him to come off the ledge, Chong said.

Once they had the man in custody, he was brought to a local hospital.

Chong said the officers did an outstanding job. “Their training kicked in. They were successful and saved a life today.”
