There was an exciting book reading and music session for the over-four age group at Straight A’s Educational Toy Store on Post Road in White Plains Saturday as Rob Berlinger read from his book “Hu’s Hoo & The Zoo: The Story of an Animal Band and Their Quest for Fame and Fortune” and a live performance by musical artists Jon Cobert, and Ali Isabella presented a rendition of songs by the musical beasts.

The book and accompanying 11-song musical CD are part of a promotion for Etymotic, manufacturer of ETY-Kids Safe Listening Earphones.

One of the animal band’s featured characters, Hu, wears the earphones for all his gigs and explains through the story, the importance of wearing the listening gear to promote hearing safety.

Etymotic, which means true to the ear, has been active in the audio listening field for over 30 years. With so much loud music and high volume content being directed at children, even at very young ages, the future health of their hearing has become a concern.

Most headphones in production today allow a lot of ambient noise in, interfering with the content of any audio recording. That causes listeners to pump up the volume. But too much of that can lead to future hearing loss.

That’s where ETY-Kids Safe-Listening Earphones come in. They are engineered for safe sound output while maintaining exceptional sound quality. By controlling earphone sensitivity, it is not necessary to restrict the volume setting on the player. Sound heard through ETY-Kids earphones will not exceed safe levels. Because ETY-Kids earphones block background noise and provide high-definition sound quality, kids are able to hear every detail, and don’t complain that the volume is too low. The ear bud style is custom for kids and comfortable.

Currently, Straight A’s in White Plains is the only Retailer in Westchester County carrying these headphones.

Saturday’s event kicked off a special holiday promotion featuring the headphones in attractive colors, yellow, pink and black. For the next few months Straight A’s will include a free copy of the Hu’s Hoo and the Zoo” book and CD with headphone purchases.

The headphones sell for $39 and can be tried out at Straight A’s Educational Toy Store, located at 180 E. Post Road, White Plains.
