Rosenthal JCC of Northern Westchester Closing Its Three Locations

We are part of The Trust Project

By Arthur Cusano

After 36 years, the Rosenthal JCC (Jewish Community Centers) will close the doors of the organization’s three northern Westchester locations June 30 of next year, according to a statement released Thursday afternoon.

The statement, issued by JCC President Jessica Morganthal and Executive Director Ellie Aronowitz, cited changing demographics and economic challenges and competition from other organizations as reasons for the closure.

“With care and compassion, we have provided financial assistance; guided and supported those with special needs; and embraced those suffering through illness and family crisis,” the statement read.  “We are proud to have instilled Jewish values and a love of learning; fostered meaningful connections with Israel; and cultivated volunteerism both within and beyond Northern Westchester.”

The main branch of the organization is located in Pleasantville, but there is also a second location in Yorktown Heights. Rosenthal JCC also operates camps in Croton-on-Hudson and Pearl River.
