Disaster! Opening Night Performance

Disaster never sounded so funny! Enjoy an evening of song and comedy as the Sarah Lawrence College Theatre Program performs a show filled with songs of the 1970s with a theme that pays homage to the disaster films of the 1970s. Created and written by Seth Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick, Disaster! promises to have you rolling in the aisles. The show is directed by Bryelle Burgus and choreographed by Alex Guhde.

2. Planetarium Show: The Girl Who Walked Upside Down (4/2)

Imagine walking upside down and looking at the world? That is just what this Planetarium Show does as it follows a girl’s adventure one spring day after a storm. Recommended for ages 4-7, the 33-minute show can be enjoyed by the whole family. A question and answer period follows. Masks are required and reservations are strongly recommended.

3. Mikki Shepard to speak at the 2022 Jandon Business of the Arts Distinguished Lecture at Purchase (4/4)

Mikki Shepard will be the featured speaker for the 2022 Jandon Business of the Arts Distinguished Lecture at Purchase College at 6:30 p.m. With the arts industry hit especially hard during the pandemic, Shepard will focus on next steps for the creative

sector. She will discuss how all can be agents of change and enable artists to continue to thrive. Shepard, an accomplished arts manager counts the NYC Little Island Park Festival, Apollo Theater, and numerous charitable foundations among her credits. The event is free. Guests are able to attend live or virtually. Registration is required.

  • ‘Visions of Home Lands’ Art Exhibition To Benefit Hearts & Homes for Refugees Opening (White Plains): Westchester resident, Lori Kapner Hosp’s artwork will be on display at the White Plains Library from April 3 through May 27. The unique exhibition “pays tribute to the beauty and richness of the homelands that newcomers to the U.S.have left behind. Each painting offers a glimpse of the people, traditions or culture of the country it represents.” Funds from the paintings sold at the Opening, which is from 1 to 4 p.m. will be donated to Hearts & Homes for Refugees. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.

    According to the exhibition description, “Lori’s style is a mix of traditional and contemporary to reflect the subject of each piece and its place of origin: Malaysian wau bulan kites, Vietnamese basket boats, Senegalese pirogues, Iranian salt mountains, portraits of people from Afghanistan, Peru, Japan, Iraq, Jamaica…and more.”

  • Easter Eggstravaganza at Stew Leonard’s (Yonkers): Hunt for Easter eggs at the Easter Eggstravaganza at Stew Leonard’s on April 5 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. All can watch as children 8 and under search for the eggs at five stations. Meet with the Easter Bunny and his friends and take pictures to round out the fun day. Only the egg hunters need tickets for the free event.

  • A History of Quarry Park (Hastings): Hastings has been known for quarrying since the early days of the town. Learn all about Quarry Park and take a walk along the grounds if weather permits. The free lecture begins at 10 a.m. The area is known for its dolomite limestone and marble. Learn the many different ways the land was used over the past 100 years or so. Masks are requested indoors.
