Last week, Nancy A. Shenker, CEO of theONswitch, stopped in to meet Dawn Greenberg, owner of Aurora, a new fair trade boutique in Chappaqua. They soon discovered they were both former corporate executives who were passionate about entrepreneurship and small business success.

Quickly, they came up with an innovative new solution to help small businesses thrive. Within a few days, they launched The Marketing Co-op, a way for small businesses to benefit from professional marketing and public relations services without incurring large fees.

Greenberg assembled a small group of local business owners and the first collaborative workshop took place last Tuesday morning at Aurora.

The session, led by Shenker, covered “10 Tips for Running a Retail Business in Westchester.” The group, which will meet monthly, discussed everything from Twitter to old-fashioned customer service and hiring the best employees.

The next session, scheduled for Wednesday, June 8 at 9:30 a.m. at Casa Tile in Mount Kisco, will cover social media and is open to small businesses throughout the area. For more information about group membership, contact nancys@theonswitch.com.
