I am writing to encourage voters in Putnam County Legislative District 3 to come out on Nov. 7 to vote for Kathy Kahng for legislator.

I have known Kathy for many years. She is extremely intelligent, knowledgeable and pragmatic, a problem-solver who approaches issues head on and finds and implements solutions.

Kathy lives in my neighborhood, the Hill & Dale Country Club, and is an extremely active member of the community. She has served on the Hill & Dale Property Owners, Inc. Board of Directors for years as our lake chairwoman. In that role, Kathy has worked to improve the water quality of Palmer Lake by coordinating with our neighborhood’s lake consultant, obtaining grants for plantings, dealing with an engineering firm through a state grant to conduct a study to determine the best plan of action to remediate our lake.

Not only does Kathy volunteer in the Hill & Dale community, she has also volunteered for the Town of Kent for many years. Kathy has served as the chairwoman of the town’s Stormwater Committee and is a proactive member of the Lakes Committee. One of her major accomplishments in that role is that she has taken the lead for organizing, coordinating and implementing the annual Lower Hudson Valley Lake Conference, bringing in speakers to inform, educate and assist lake communities throughout the area. She is passionate about preserving and improving the lakes and waterways of not only our wonderful town but also those in the region.

Although another letter writer has talked about our current legislator’s efforts, I can say that in my eight years as town supervisor, our current legislator for District 3 met with myself and my deputy supervisor once, and that was during the beginning of her tenure. Kent was never job one. Though she may be quite a pleasant person, Kent needs someone who will advocate for our town, someone who knows the issues and someone who can get things done. Kathy Kahng is that person!

Please vote for my friend and neighbor Kathy Kahng for Putnam County Legislator, District 3.
