From June through Labor Day, more than 300 outdoor concerts and other free or affordable (under $20) events will take place throughout Westchester County.

Music in the Air, a collaboration between ArtsWestchester, Westchester County government and the County Board of Legislators, lists the events on the ArtWestchester website.

Whether you want to try Mendelssohn at Caramoor or a movie screening of “Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer” in the Village of Croton or an outdoor art show in downtown Yonkers, the program promises something for everyone. Music in the Air, unveiled last week during a special breakfast at ArtsWestchester in White Plains, is a comprehensive database of events listed by municipal governments, chambers of commerce, business improvement districts and local cultural organizations.

“Westchester residents don’t need to travel to find quality events to enjoy this summer,” said ArtsWestchester CEO Janet Langsam. “The beautiful landscape of Westchester’s parks, rivers and lush scenery creates a perfect backdrop to the impressive list of performances that our county has to offer in the coming months. From jazz to family fun and rock and roll, our Music in the Air initiative is designed to give residents access to the events that best suit their interests and budgets, providing a summer to remember.”

Every Monday throughout the summer, a Picnic in the Park basket will be given away to one of 13 winners, containing everything needed to take a meal to the park. To enter, visit the Music in the Air page on ArtsWestchester’s website at

Music in the Air sponsors include the Cross County Shopping Center, Examiner Media, The Journal News and WFUV.
