The Yorktown Central School District Board of Education appointed Marie Horowitz as Assistant Principal of Mildred E. Strang Middle School (MESMS) on July 30.

Horowitz has served as Social Studies and Science chairperson at the Chestnut Ridge Middle School in the East Ramapo School District, and also as Summer School principal at the Sleepy Hollow middle and high schools.

“We are pleased to welcome Mrs. Horowitz to the Yorktown Schools, and believe that her skills and experience in developing and supervising teams of teachers, in using technology and in building safe, secure and supportive environments for students and staff will be a tremendous asset to us all, “ said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Ralph Napolitano. “Mrs. Horowitz comes highly recommended as a teacher leader and staff developer.”

“Mrs. Horowitz’s knowledge and familiarity with many of our programs and evaluation rubrics will enable her to hit the ground running,” added MESMS Principal Linda Grimm, “She was responsible for initiating many programs at the Chestnut Ridge Middle School that we have at MESMS. She will be an asset to our school and district.”
