Green Chimneys to Host Harvest Festival Saturday

Fall harvest festival this weekend – September 29.

Cooler temperatures, changing leaves and the end of the growing season signal the return of the Green Chimneys Annual Fall Harvest Festival. Celebrating its sixth year, the Fall Harvest Festival will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 29,

The festival will offer many fun-filled and educational activities for the entire family, including live animal demonstrations, “Make Your Own Scarecrow,” hay rides, a pumpkin roll, a fun run, pumpkin decorating, hands-on wilderness skills activities, wildlife presentations, pony rides, face painting, arts and crafts, a bungee trampoline, a hay maze and live music from Jensen Keets.

New this year will be displays by Two Coyotes wilderness school, and returning to the festival will be Mary-Anne Fallon and her border collies for a live demonstration of herding skills and the relationship between the dogs, humans, and farm animals.

Festival admission is free for children 12 and under, and $5 for adults, but some of the other activities have a fee, as follows:

Purchase a Children’s Activity Passport that includes a  pony ride, arts and crafts, face painting and pumpkin decorating for $10, or $3 per activity.

Registration for the Children’s Harvest Fun Run begins at 10a.m.

The race for children six and younger begins at 10:30am and the second race for children ages seven to 13 years, begins at 11a.m.

Race registration is $15 per child and includes a free Children’s Activity Passport. Parents of runners receive free admission to the festival.

The pumpkin roll begins at 3 p.m. and includes one sugar pumpkin. If a child has purchased an activity passport, the roll is $3  and $5 per child without the passport.

The bungee trampoline is open all day for children and adults and will cost $5 for 5 minutes

The Fall Harvest Festival will be held at Green Chimneys located at 400 Doansburg Road in Brewster.
