I’m very pleased the Town of Cortlandt and the Village of Buchanan celebrated the anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War on Mar. 29 at the Village of Buchanan.

There are so many who gave their lives, and so many still living the nightmare of that war. We owe them our gratitude for all their service and sacrifice.

Last year on Memorial Day I took this photo of the neglected Veterans Memorial Garden at Cortlandt Riverfront Park, near Steamboat Dock, in Verplanck. Quite a surprise to me when I think how special our veterans are.

Since a new amphitheater is being designed and constructed not far from this spot, I really hope attention will be given to this. We owe our veterans more than this.
