Village Justice Thomas Costello swore in Ralph Falloon as Cold Spring‘s new mayor along with Trustees Bruce Campbell and Stephanie Hawkins at Village Hall on Monday evening.

Falloon, who previously served as a trustee for the village, ran uncontested March 19, and replaces former Mayor Seth Gallagher who did not seek a third term of office.

“We have a reorganizational meeting scheduled for Wednesday night and a budget hearing the Thursday after that. Hopefully we can get into the nuts and bolts of some of the issues in Cold Spring,” said Falloon, “The Butterfield development project, the village’s master plan, and the main street water main re-lining are all things we’ll be tackling.”

At one point, prior to the swearing in, Justice Costello joked that five-term incumbent Trustee Bruce Campbell could probably recite the oath of office by heart.  Campbell indicated he’s looking forward to working with the new mayor and board and beginning work on the budget, infrastructure issues in the village and the comprehensive plan.

Political newcomer, Stephanie Hawkins, was also sworn in. She served as a member of the Village Special Board for the Comprehensive Plan and is a founding member of the Cold Spring Film Society.

“I’m looking forward to promoting more interaction and projects between the town and the village and pushing forward with the comprehensive plan as well as the local waterfront revitalization program,” said Hawkins.

All three will serve two year terms. The salary for mayor is $11,620 a year. Trustees are paid $6,000 annually.
