It felt it was necessary to respond to last week’s Northern Westchester Examiner article, “Knickerbocker Facing Challenge from Capicotti for Mayor in Buchanan,” and comments from my opponent Anthony Capicotti.

There is definitely cohesion on the board – unfortunately, only with my opponent and his two running mates. “We just want to be heard and” and “We’re not in the decision-making” are strange statements since they have had control of the board and have always voted together. Transparency? As I have been told, I am only one vote and they have the votes; my vote is not needed.

As for the Holtec negotiation, I have successfully negotiated tax agreements for many years with Entergy and Holtec. My opponent’s comment clearly shows his lack of knowledge and lack of experience.

I had always hoped the board could work together to deal with the challenges that face our beautiful village.

Theresa Knickerbocker
Mayor, Village of Buchanan
