Beth Mannion, a longtime Mount Kisco resident who was involved in a wide variety of volunteer community service roles, died on Aug. 5 after a courageous fight with ovarian cancer.

Born Nov. 3, 1965, to John “Jack” and Carolyn O’Leary in Mount Kisco, Beth grew up in Bedford Hills and attended Bedford schools. After graduating from Fox Lane High School with the Class of 1983, she went on to earn her associate’s degree from Westchester Community College and her bachelor of arts in marketing from Western Connecticut University.

Beth worked for many years at the Bedford Barn, then for several other local businesses, including Save-a-Tree.

In 1999, Beth married the love of her life, Frank Mannion. After the birth of her daughter, Kristin, in 2002, she devoted her many talents to her family and countless volunteer works.

Over the years she was been a mainstay for the Mount Kisco Memorial Pool Swim Team; Mount Kisco American Youth Soccer Organization; St. Patrick’s (Bedford) annual craft fair, St. Patrick’s in Yorktown Auction – Hot Lunch – Spa – Class Mother and Volleyball; Girl Scouts; Boy Scouts; Kennedy Catholic High School cross country and track teams; St. Francis of Assisi Parish Council; and the Emergency Shelter Partnership.

Earlier this year, she was named one of two citizens of the year by the Mount Kisco Chamber of Commerce.

Beth is survived by her adoring husband; four children, Luke (Sarah), Breeda Carbone (Joe), Kristin and John “Jack”; four grandchildren, Mary “Mollie,” Callum, Lochlan Mannion and John Joseph Carbone; and her loving sisters, Kathleen “Kathy” O’Leary Fable and Karen O’Leary Cunniffe.

The wake was held on Aug. 11 at Oakler-Cox & Sinatra Funeral Home in Mount Kisco. A funeral mass took place on Aug. 12 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Mount Kisco.
