Benedict S. Caterinicchio, more often called Ben or Doctor Cat, a resident of Mount Kisco for 59 years, died on July 25 at Phelps Hospital in Sleepy Hollow after suffering a heart attack.

Ben was born at home on Feb. 1, 1933, in Elizabeth, N.J. to the late Salvatore and Mary Caterinicchio.

Ben attended Johns Hopkins University and then New York Medical College, earning his MD. After serving in the Army as a pediatrician at Fort Carson, Colo., Ben and his wife, Gladys, settled in Mount Kisco where he practiced medicine as a pediatrician at the Mt. Kisco Medical Group (MKMG) for 40 years. During most of his practice with MKMG, Ben was also an associate clinical professor of pediatrics at New York Hospital Cornell Medical Center, where he ran a weekly clinic.

Ben is the beloved husband of Gladys (nee Cibeu) for 65 years. Ben also leaves behind a son, Ben (MJ), of Irvine, Calif., and a daughter, Maria (Michael) Skrokov, of Queens. Ben was the proud grandfather of two, Ben III and Chris, of Irvine.

Services were held at Clark Associates Funeral Home in Katonah on July 29. The family received visitors with a remembrance and celebration of his life.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to Open Door Family Medical Center in Mount Kisco, the last place our Dad practiced medicine, at https://opendoormedical.org/foundation/donate/ or the Mount Kisco Child Care Center, a nonprofit that the Caterinicchio family supports, at https://mkccc.org/donate/
