ArtsWestchester to Open eARTh Exhibition Next Week

We are part of The Trust Project
Artists from across New York spent the week setting up their installations at the upcoming eARTh exhibition.

Beginning next Wednesday, the ArtsWestchester building on Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains will host an exhibition exploring the relationship between nature and the environment entitled “eARTh.”
In keeping with the natural theme, ArtsWestchester partnered with the Port Chester-based Clay Arts Center to feature ceramic sculptures.
“A lot of the pieces in this exhibition ask us to look at nature more closely and revere it and other pieces bring attention to how we treat the earth and our environment,” explained Leigh Taylor Mickelson, the curator of the exhibition. “Other pieces talk about the built environment and how that contrasts with nature.”
Thirty-four New York artists, including many from Westchester, will have their installations showcased, while an additional 34 will have art displayed in the exhibit’s community tabletop.
The exhibition will be on display at ArtsWestchester, located at 31 Mamaroneck Ave., from Oct.6 through Nov. 23; the gallery is open noon to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. An opening reception will be held Oct. 5 at 5:30 p.m. For more information, call (914) 428-4220 ext. 306 or visit www.artsw.org/earth.
