Borgia, Testa Given Leadership Roles on County Board
Two Westchester County legislators who represent northern Westchester municipalities have been selected to lead their respective parties for the next two years.
Catherine Borgia (D/Ossining), who represents Ossining and parts of Cortlandt and Peekskill, was chosen to be the Majority Leader for the Democrats.
“I am grateful for the support of my colleagues in the Democratic caucus, and look forward to working with the full board to best serve all the people of Westchester,” said Borgia, who was reelected to a second term in November.
Meanwhile, John Testa (R/Peekskill), who represents Peekskill and parts of Cortlandt and Yorktown, was chosen as Minority Leader for the seven-member GOP caucus.
“The confidence placed in me by the members of my caucus is one that I take very seriously and I look forward to a productive, positive and collaborative effort for the next two years.”
Both positions officially took effect at Monday’s reorganization meeting, during which another local legislator, Michael Kaplowitz (D/Somers), was chosen as the new chairman of the Board of Legislators.
