Cause of Armonk Fatal Crash Unknown

Authorities have yet to definitively determine the cause for Monday’s car crash on Route 22 in Armonk that claimed the life of a 28-year-old White Plains woman, the North Castle Police Department reported.
Sgt. Regen Hufnagle said on Thursday that a 50-year-old North Castle woman who was traveling southbound in a 2011 Infiniti shortly before 8 a.m. on Dec. 31 lost control of her car and skidded across the double yellow line about a quarter mile north of the Rye Lake Bridge.
Hufnagle said the driver of the Infiniti, whose identity has not yet been revealed by police, told authorities she thought she may have skidded on a patch of black ice on the roadway. Police haven’t yet been able to affirm whether that was in fact the case. It does not appear that excessive speed played a role in the crash, police said.
The unidentified woman crashed head on into a 1991 Toyota that was heading northbound and driven by Niccole Dozier.
Dozier, on her way to work at the Brynwood Golf & Country Club, was rushed to Westchester Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Hufnagle said there were no violations committed. He also said the accident occurred near a curve that has been the scene of previous accidents. There were no passengers in either car.
The unidentified woman, who was also taken to Westchester Medical Center, sustained “relatively minor injuries,” Hufnagle said.
Dozier, a chef at Brynwood, leaves behind a three-year-old daughter and was engaged to be married.
