Gov. Kathy Hochul’s desire to see 800,000 new housing units built in New York over the next decade has generated significant pushback from many municipal officials across the state, with local authorities eager to maintain unencumbered zoning control.

While there’s some degree of bi-partisan consensus around the need for much more housing in New York, there’s less agreement over how to get from point A to point B.
