Police have arrested one man in connection with Friday’s shooting on Lake Street and are searching for a second person of interest.

Juan Jose Gell, an 18-year-old Lake Street resident, was arrested on charges of first-degree assault, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal use of a firearm. Police are now searching for 18-year-old Dominique Hospie, a Peekskill resident whose father lives in White Plains.

“I advise Mr. Hospie to come in and tell us his side of the story,” White Plains Public Safety Commissioner David Chong said in an e-mail Monday. “By now you know we have visited your family, friends and places that you frequent. We will not stop looking for you, so it’s best for you and your safety to just come in.”

Police received several 9-1-1 calls at around 4 p.m. Friday reporting someone had been shot between 92 and 94 Lake Street, White Plains Police Department Assistant Chief Anne FitzSimmons said. Police responded and found a young man on the ground with gunshot wounds to the leg and arm, she said.

The young man, who police said has been identified but whose name has not yet been released, was taken to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla for surgery. As of Monday, he was in serious but stable condition, according to Chong.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting or Hospie is asked to call (914) 422-6223.
