Spielberg’s Favorite Films

We are part of The Trust Project
The Godfather is one of Steven Spielberg's favorite movies. In September, the Jacob Burns Film Center will be screening his favorite movies, including Casablanca and Rebecca.

Hollywood’s most successful film director is programming his own series at the Jacob Burns.

For the first part of September, the Jacob Burns Film Center will be showcasing Steven Spielberg’s favorite movies. The series, which is curated by the director himself, is in honor of Spielberg’s visit to the Burns on September 17 as part of the film center’s 10th anniversary celebration.

At the event, Spielberg will be presented with the Jacob Burns Film Center Vision Award.
Spielberg’s list includes some of the most iconic films and films by some of the most iconic directors. Films like It’s a Wonderful Life, Casablanca and the Godfather will be screened, while Hitchcock, Kurosawa, and Polanski will be represented in the series.

“It’s a series of films that you really want to see on the big screen,” Programming Director Brian Ackerman said.

Ackerman is excited to be screening Seven Samurai by Kurosawa, noting he showed it to his son when he was seven, and his son was blown away. While most of the films are well known, there are some lesser-known films like Polanski’s character study Cul-de-sac and the gritty Thieves’ Highway.
