Bomb Threat at Yorktown High School- Updated
Students and staff were evacuated from Yorktown High School, alternative high school and district office were evacuated due to a bomb threat.
The threat was discovered on the wall of the boys bathroom in the high school and was called in about 9 a.m., according to a police officer.
The Yorktown police and the Westchester bomb squad were on the scene.
The high school students were sent to the turf field, where attendance was checked.
Then students were evacuated to the middle school library, according to The Examiner intern Fatema Kamal, a junior at Yorktown High School who is on the scene.
Eight canine units have been used in the investigation. No bombs were found.
Students and staff being permitted back into the school buildings by noon. Students went to their seventh period classes.
No suspect has been named.
“We continue to work with the police to identify the person(s) responsible, and will press charges,” said Wheeler. ” Thanks to everyone for their cooperation throughout this process, and for helping to ensure a safe return to our regular routine.”
Phone calls from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Ralph Napolitano went out to all the parents.
