Tarrytown Parks and Rec Employee Falls Through Ice

We are part of The Trust Project

In an email circulated by Greenburgh Town Supervisor, Paul Feiner, he thanked the Greenburgh Technical Rescue team for coming to the aid of and rescuing a Tarrytown Parks and Recreation employee yesterday, who was clearing snow off  of lake ice in anticipation of weekend ice skating.

The tractor the employee was operating fell through the ice and both the tractor and the operator were submerged in the frigid water.

The tractor had fallen through the ice approximately 250 feet from the shore. The operator had been in the water about 10 minutes and was attempting to get out, and managed to walk towards the shore when the rescue team arrived.

The vehicle was stabilized and retrieved. The Tarrytown Fire Department and Stiloski’s heavy duty tow truck/wrecker assisted.
