The Mews at Baldwin Place, a senior affordable housing project that is being built on Route 6 in Baldwin Place, is now accepting applications from prospective tenants. There are 72 one-bedroom apartments available to seniors age 62 and older.

The rents range from $470 to $895, and is determined by the seniors’ income, explained Somers Supervisor Mary Beth Murphy. “Local preference will not be given because the tenants will be chosen through a lottery process conducted by the Housing Action Council,” the supervisor said.

Only one application is permitted per household. Multiple submissions will disqualify the applicants.

Applications are being accepted until April 27. The lottery will be drawn during the first week of May. The complex is expected to open to tenants in July.

“I have been going out and urging the seniors to send in an application,” said Murphy. “Residents who would like their parents to live closer should have them submit an application also.”

The Housing Action Council in Tarrytown is responsible for the selecting the tenants.
