Sometimes I meet people who inspire me.  Dr. Drew Tortoriello and Dr. Nicole Browne are two of them.

Together they run the Westchester Fertility Clinic located in Purchase and The Manhattan Fertility Clinic on Fifth Avenue, both part of the Sher Institutes for Reproductive Medicine.

They recently launched a program to provide free egg harvesting and freezing to any woman who cannot afford the procedure and who needs to undergo a cancer treatment that may leave her infertile.

I asked Dr. Tortoriello if there was a moment that inspired him to action. He told me of a young cancer patient he met during his medical fellowship. She hoped to have children one day but needed a treatment that would leave her infertile.  She could not afford the $10,000 cost to harvest and freeze her eggs.

She was never able to have children of her own.

Dr. Tortoriello and Dr. Browne help women avoid having to make this choice.

Even if your cancer treatment will take place two weeks from today, there is enough time to have the egg harvesting and freezing procedure done.

I am inspired by Dr. Browne and Dr. Tortoriello.  They are doing good and walking the talk.  They can be reached at: (914) 696-7476 or by visiting www.haveababy.com
