Carmel Dem Running for Town Board
Pete Creegan, a Democrat from Mahopac, will run for the Carmel Town Board this fall.
Creegan, a 16-year Mahopac resident, announced his candidacy on Wednesday. Creegan, 49, is a business agent for the ironworkers union and previously served as the union president.
“The Town of Carmel needs a candidate with a clear vision to carry the town into the 21st century,” a press release announcing Creegan’s candidacy stated. “As a life-long local resident, he is familiar with the local issues including development, traffic, and taxes.”
There are two board seats (plus the supervisor’s seat) up for election this fall in Carmel. Councilman Bob Ravallo, the board’s senior member, will be up for re-election. The other seat up for grabs is currently vacant, as Putnam County Legislator Anthony DiCarlo left the board in January to join the legislature. The board has not yet appointed anyone to the position but is being urged by the town’s GOP committee to do so.
