Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reported that his department is investigating an alleged armed robbery of a convenience store, located at North Main Street in the Village of Brewster.

Shortly before 8 p.m. last night, Tuesday, May 15, the Sheriff’s Office responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting that a man had entered the business, brandished a knife and demanded money from the clerk. The robber grabbed an undisclosed amount of currency from the cash register and fled on foot. No injuries were reported.

Sheriff’s deputies and investigators responded to the scene to investigate the incident, while a Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, undercover narcotics officers and state troopers scoured the village searching for the perpetrator.

The suspect is identified as a white or light skinned Hispanic male, 25 to 30 years old, 5feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, medium build, and was last seen wearing a black watch cap, a black hooded sweatshirt bearing the word “ROCAWEAR” printed on the front, gray sweat pants with two white stripes on each leg of the pants and tan shoes.

Anyone having information concerning this robbery is asked to call investigators at the Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation at (845) 225-8060. All calls will be kept confidential.
