For his entire life, Sal Triarsi has been involved in the pizzeria business and now during the last year, he’s been on his own, operating Cacciatori Pizzeria in Mahopac as it continues to offer an expanded array of pizza and dishes that keep customers coming back.

Sharing a special connection with his father, who is in the same business, Sal has enjoyed serving the Mahopac community for the last year, as he continues to add more selections for hungry customers that continue to pile in. It’s not uncommon for him to hear that Cacciatori has the best pizza in town.

“This has always been my passion,” he said. “I’ve always loved the restaurant business, I’ve always loved the people, and I love feeding people. It’s always been my number one thing.”

Sal was always friends with the former owner Peter, who told him that one day he was going to sell the business. That’s when Sal told him if that day ever comes, to let him know. Once that day arrived, Sal and his father came to the Mahopac pizza place and decided it would be the perfect spot for him to own his first business.

“It’s been great,” he said. “The people in Mahopac have been so wonderful.”

And while his father, Tony, owns his own successful pizza place in Nyack, he’s more than willing to help Sal in Mahopac. The two talk on the phone everyday and once a week, Sal goes up to Nyack to learn a new dish or pizza recipe and his father, who is 78 and still full of energy, will come down to Cacciatori.

Last time his father was here, the two were brainstorming how to make the kitchen bigger in the back. With business going strong, Sal wants to be able to have four people cook and prepare food in the back, instead of currently just two.

The pizzeria has introduced many new pizzas, including thin crust selections, and several additional pasta dishes. Sal keeps busy, starting his day 8 a.m. and getting home around midnight.

Sal said in order to make customers happy, it’s imperative to buy the best ingredients, prepare it with pride, and be fair to the people that come into the shop. That philosophy has seemed to work, with the pizzeria getting busier and busier by the day.

“There’s nothing nicer than somebody saying that your food is great and your pizza is the best in town,” he said. “There’s nothing nicer than that feeling.”

Cacciatori Pizzeria is located at 941 S Lake Blvd in Mahopac and its number is 845-628-7984.
