Katonah Village Library Health Film Series: “The Medicated Child.” The final installment of this series of documentaries. This film explores the effects of medication on children. Tuesdays at Dorry’s:  Ariel Tamir is an auditor, translator, and writer who lives in White Plains. In his youth he studied piano at the Mannes School of Music in New York City for several years. In the early 1980s, he traveled the nation as an apprentice student to Maestro Sergiu Commissiona, the late Music Director of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, as well as the American Symphony Orchestra in New York. Tuesdays at Dorry’s gathers “conversation partners” weekly for informal table talk, and sometimes we hear live music. There is no charge. Just come and order your food from Sylvia, who serves all of us.

Winter Clothing Drive: Donations of winter coats, sweaters, boots, gloves and hats are being accepted this week, during regular office hours, at the First Hebrew Congregation 1821 Main St., Peekskill. Call to confirm that donations can be made at 914-739-0500. The office is closed Saturdays for Shabbat Families in need can select from the donated items on Dec. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Jewish Center Programs: The Yorktown Jewish Center, 2966 Crompond Rd., is holding a series of programs. Maimonidean Thought (Topics in Mishneh Torah) is held on Tuesdays from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Understanding Hebrew Prayer is held from Mondays from 7 to 8 p.m. (through May 31).  Also on Mondays, Conversational Hebrew is held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. (through May 31). Talmud and the Law is held on Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (through May 31). Santa’s Helpers: Milk and cookies will be served to Santa’s helpers and the public from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hudson Valley Hospital Center, 1980 Crompond Rd., Cortlandt. The program is a fund-raiser for the hospital’s efforts to purchase gifts for needy children. 12 Grapes Events:  A series of entertainment programs are scheduled for this week at  the 12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar, 12 N. Division St., Peekskill. On Dec. 14 from 8 to 10 p.m. Jon Cobert will perform. On Dec. 15 from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. the Westchester Rock Jam and Band Showcase will be held. Jewish Children’s Library: Temple Beth Shalom, 760 Route 6, Mahopac, is launching The PJ Library, which offers free books and music to families raising Jewish children. The materials are being provided to children between the ages of six months and eight years who live in northern Westchester and Putnam and Dutchess Counties.
