Armonk Outdoor Art Show Celebrates 50 Years
Close to 200 artists from around the United States and abroad will descend on Armonk this weekend for the 50th annual Armonk Outdoor Art Show at Community Field.
Fine artists and fine craft artists include entrants from eight different mediums. Patrons will be able to buy oils/acrylics, watercolors, mixed media, printmaking/drawing/pastels, sculpture, wearable art, fine crafts and raku. Prices range from under $100 to several thousand dollars.
Sponsored by the Friends of the North Castle Library, between 8,000 and 10,000 visitors are expected for the two-day event. Proceeds raised from the show will go toward projects and programs for the town’s libraries in Armonk and North White Plains.
Considered one of the metropolitan area’s top art shows, just 44 percent of the artist who applied for entry into the juried show were accepted this year by the Friends, said Peggy Rao, a publicity volunteer for the event.
Along with the show itself, a weeklong celebration started on Sunday with the inaugural 5K Fun Run in Armonk. Throughout the week there will be promotions in shops and restaurants throughout the town. Joining in the fun is the first-ever Harvest Party organized by Restaurant North, held on Sunday between 12 and 6 p.m. at their location at 386 Main St.
Community Field is located at 200 Business Park Drive. There is also free parking, children’s activities and food court. A free anniversary shuttle bus service runs from the show to town shops and restaurants.
The show will be held rain or shine, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $10 for adults and $8 for seniors. Children under 18 are admitted for free.
