Vincent Tamagna

Vincent Tamagna won’t be a one-year chairman after all. Less than a month after the Republican caucus had favored instead making Mary Conklin the 2011 legislative chair, the GOP legislators reversed course and went in favor of Tamagna. Tamagna was approved by the full legislature by a 7-2 vote Tuesday night, with Legislators Conklin and Tony Hay voting “no.”

The Republican caucus had met Dec. 7 and voted 5-3 in favor of supporting Conklin, according to legislators, which vexed Tamagna as well as Legislator Richie Othmer, a Tamagna supporter. Legislator Dan Birmingham said Tuesday he changed his mind when it became apparent that the Republican caucus now favored reappointing Tamagna. Legislators were mum, though, on what led to the change of heart.
