Register Now for Designing Environmentally Sound Landscapes Program

"Prairie Style" GardenThe Westchester County Soil and Water Conservation District and Department of Planning will present a half-day seminar titled “Designing Environmentally Sound Landscapes” on Friday, Dec. 13. The workshop at the Westchester County Center in White Plains will run from 8:45 a.m. until 1 p.m., with breakfast and registration beginning at 8 a.m. It is for site design and development professionals, municipal representatives and homeowners who want to learn how to plan for and design man-made landscapes that improve the quality of the natural environment.

The speakers will include Peter Trowbridge and Josh Cerra, professors at Cornell University’s Landscape Architecture Department, and Kim Eierman, a landscape consultant and environmental horticulturist. The seminar is New York State-approved for 3.5 continuing education credits (CEUs) for landscape architects. A companion workshop on managing and maintaining environmentally sound landscapes will be held in 2014.

The cost of the workshop is $15, which includes continental breakfast, snacks and program materials. Parking at the County Center, located at 198 Central Avenue in White Plains, is $7.
