Thousands of police officers from across New York lined Gleneida Avenue in Carmel Thursday for the funeral of City of Poughkeepsie Police Officer John Falcone, killed in the line of duty last Friday.

Rows of officers stretched from Fair Street to the Route 6 intersection from early Thursday morning through the early afternoon. Mass was held at St. James the Apostle Church on Gleneida Avenue, with Archbishop Timothy Dolan speaking.

Falcone, a Carmel native, served as a dispatcher in the Carmel Police Department and also served in the Kent Police Department before joining the Poughkeepsie police.
