The Fourth Annual YWCA Benefit Luncheon “In the Company of Women” celebrating individuals and organizations whose ongoing work helps to eliminate racism and empower women, was held at the Rye Town Hilton, Friday, May 11. Over 700 people attended the event. Sonia Manzano, “Maria” from Sesame Street gave the keynote presentation, delighting attendees with stories of her life growing up in the South Bronx as well as behind the scenes stories from Sesame Street. Honorees Suzanne Clary, Leader of Distinction; Lee M. Lasberg, Community Champion; and Pauline Mosley, Woman in Technology spoke about their work in the community. Maria Imperial, YWCA CEO, wearing a persimmon dress (the color of YWCA) gave an impassioned talk about the women in White Plains YWCA residential facility whose lives have been turned around by the organization.
