During a special personnel meeting held on Thursday, Dec. 6, the Mahopac Board of Education placed Troy Bilyeu, the Mahopac High School Green House principal, on administrative reassignment for an indefinite period of time.

Before the district issued a statement rumors starting circulating around the community.

“The district understands that there are rumors in the community regarding this situation and cautions the community about drawing conclusions,” said Schools Superintendent Thomas Manko in a statement that was released. “Please note that this administrative reassignment is a personnel matter and in accordance with district practice there will be no further comment at this time.”

A substitute or per diem administrator has yet to be assigned to the high school’s Green House.

Currently the other high school administrators are sharing the responsibilities left by Bilyeu’s absence.

Bilyeu, a 42-year-old resident of Wappinger’s Falls, was hired by the district in 1997. His annual salary as of June 2011 was at least $148,233.50.
